1.) What is a rating?
→According to www.yourdictionary.com, a rating is a classification, based on content, restricting the age of those who may attend.
A rating usually depends on what kind of audience you aim for. For example, if you wrote something with sexual activities, you have to rate your story either an NC-17 (No Children Below 17) or R-18 (Restricted to 18 years old). But when you've simply written about two people getting together in a cute way, you can rate your story a G (General).
Another example would be in movies and films. Usually, when there are horror or crime and suspense or thriller films/movies, they say, "This is not suitable for young audiences parental guidance is recommended." because there may be scenes children won't want to see. Or "This film is not suitable for audiences below 15." etc.
It's basically an audience warning of some sort without actually putting a warning.
2.) What is a tag? How do you tag?
→In technical LiveJournal terms, you can simply click on this link. But if you want something simpler, then I'll try to tell you how I understand it--in the future. *too busy tagging at the moment*
3.) What is an LJ-CUT? How do I do an LJ-CUT?
→An LJ-cut is a kind of link where you can keep a portion of your entry. We use an LJ-cut because it keeps us from destroying our dear members' Friends-Page when they're reading. If we don't use an LJ-cut and you have a post over 1000 words, it causes not only their layout to stretch, but also ours. This is to keep people from having to scroll towards the bottom. This is also common courtesy.
This is how you do an LJ cut for both Rich Text and HTML. But if you're new to LiveJournal, and you're set in using Rich Text, please go to this link for a simple tutorial with screen caps. :)
4.) What is a fake LJ-cut? How do I do it?
→A fake LJ-cut is merely a link. It's not exactly like an LJ-CUT, but you can alter it to make it look like one. :)
(Read More...) ← This is what it would look like. :)
5.) How do I edit an entry in a community?
→Simply click on the "LEAVE A COMMENT" portion in your entry and click on this button: .
6.) Why do I have to lock my entry?
→This is because the community is open to everyone. Members may vary from as young as 10-years-old to 30-years-old and above. If you have been following LiveJournal a few years back, there had been problems with parental or adult content. Since we want everyone to participate in this community as much as possible, we're not putting up any adult content. Therefore, if you're going to write something with adult and/or sexual content not suitable for people below 17-years-old or those who aren't mentally mature, we're going to have serious trouble.
We want to stay out of this kind of trouble since this community has started to grow. We ask you to kindly lock your entry if it has a rating higher than Restricted to 18-years-old or No Children Below 17-years-old. Please make sure you put the rating for your fanfiction because think about it: would you want a 10-year-old to read sex and feel responsible for it?
7.) Why do the moderators ask me to change something? What is it do I have to change and how?
→We, the moderators, will usually ask you to change the font size, color or face. It's annoying to see other variations of different fonts when you read your Friends-Page. We're keeping this for uniformity and simplicity. If people are interested in your fanfiction, they'll read it. You don't have to change the font face, size or even color just to get their attention. Chances are, they'll get turned off and skip right through it because it doesn't look as sophisticated.
This may be one of the reasons why the moderators will end up deleting your post. Again, we serve the right to delete your post if the rules aren't met.
To do this, all you have to do is to not use Rich Text as much as possible, because using Rich Text changes the font to Times New Roman, size 12.
Any further questions may be asked, and this post will be updated as soon as possible. :)
